Everything You Want to Know About France and More...

Bon weekend from Paris…

Tables whose tops are made of large, old clocks outside a cafe in a street in Paris

Bonjour,

Hope you had a great week.

This week I’ve been in Paris and what a time I’ve had – totally and utterly spoiled, and not only because I didn’t have to get up and feed chickens, ducks and geese, walk the dogs or provide maid service for the cats!

I’ve been working on an article about showtime in Paris, everything from the Opera Garnier to the Philharmonie, circuses and theatres, theatrical restaurants and hotels and heaps more… And of course, I just had to check all these things out. So I’ve been to the Paris Opera, to a private rehearsal of the Paris orchestra, lunched at the elegant, refined and so Parisian Fouquet’s in the Champs-Elysées (where I had fish and chips – you can take the girl out of London but…) and slept in a heavenly bed in a Louis Vuitton owned hotel. Are you grinding your teeth in jealousy – oh I’m sorry, I really wish you could have come with me because I have had an absolute ball. I totally fell for the Opera Garnier, it was my first visit there and wow – I had no idea how utterly flamboyantly wonderful it is.

Paris is putting on the Ritz for two weeks: from Feb 25 to March 10 with a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer at dozens of concerts, cabarets, theatre shows, comedies, musicals, circus performances and family shows. So, if you’re in Paris, don’t miss out, there’s a link on the article below to get your free ticket! If you’re not in Paris – well isn’t this a good reason to go!?

Of course, when I got back home, it was business as usual. The dogs jumped all over me, the cats stuck their claws in me as they fought to sit on my lap. Several chickens escaped from the pen to come and cluck at the back door, I wish I could say it was in welcome but I think it was more like “where d’you think you’ve been then, we need our chicken coops cleaned”. The ducks pecked my hands and legs and the geese ran screaming round the pen as if I was the most frightening creature they’d ever seen. Honestly, I have fed those birds every day now for several years and they still treat me like I’m a demon!

Wishing you a very bon weekend,
Bisous from France,
Janine
