Bonjour,
Hope you had a good week.
I’m sending you this newsletter from Versailles where I’m spending a few days at the Chateau. Not living there (I wish!) but I’m doing an in-depth tour with a historian to discover its secrets and stories – join me on Instagram to see my photos and tales from the castle…
So it’s a short newsletter from me this week as I gallivant about in the footsteps of royals, which of course I’ll be sharing more details about soon!
Meanwhile the weather is fully spring-like, one minute rain, next minute sun. As I am attempting to do some gardening in between writing and travelling it makes for a muddy sortie into the vegetable patch to be. I seem to be incredibly good at growing nettles and weeds! Brad Pitt and George Clooney follow me about like they’re attached by string to my boots. Not the Hollywood legends of course, these are my cockerels. The cats sit and glare at me from various positions in trees or on top of chicken coops, amicably dozing alongside their winged companions. An enormous brown hare hopped by at one point. I stood and watched as it sat on its back legs, looking around the garden, the cats narrowed their eyes but didn’t move. The dogs of course went mad when they eventually saw it. Then a pheasant crash landed into the chicken pen, bumble bees made a bee line for my head, midges came to have a look, a robin sat and watched while I worked… it felt like nature was applauding my efforts or else laughing at me!
Wishing you a very bon weekend, and hope you enjoy the features in the newsletter (link below)
Bisous from France,
