Bonjour mes amis!
I send you this newsletter from my house in Pas de Calais in the north of France. The southerners call Nord-Pas de Calais the “North Pole of France” and it has certainly been cold the last week or so and the snow has fallen for several days as it has in much of France.
No one will be more happy about this than Simon Beck – a snow artist we featured recently who creates enormous and complicated drawings (like huge crop circles) in the mountains of Savoy/Savoie – they are truly amazing.
Paris is under a blanket of snow too and very beautiful – admirers of the City of Light will love our feature Paris – The City of Lights as you’ve never seen it before. We talked to Benjamin Trancart whose time-lapse film has been seen by millions – it is a magnificent surreal view of the world’s favourite city.
On the subject of Paris, we were thrilled to get an interview with the ladies who bake at the Sugarplum Cake Shop – THE place to go for wedding and birthday cakes in Paris.
We’ve been Les Misérables mad here at TGLF since we live right by the time where author Victor Hugo visited and which inspired the book which became a legend and is now a Hollywood film. We’ve covered the book, the locations for the film, the town that inspired the book and the author!
We’ve got tons of new recipes on the website including my current favourite – Normandy Grog – a hot toddy made with Calvados and guaranteed to keep you warm!
News, views and fantastic features galore – new content every day from places to go, things to do and see, readers real life experiences, books about France, interviews with authors and much much more.
Join us on Facebook and Twitter to make sure you don’t miss anything!
A bientôt
Janine
