Everything You Want to Know About France and More...

Bonjour from France

Bonjour

Hope you had a great week.

Here in my little corner of France, where the landscape still bears the scars of two world wars, there are preparations under way across the region to commemorate and honour the lost with a special vigil for Armistice Day 11 November 2018. And, if you’re in the area on 10 – 11 November there is a post about what’s on in the link below.

Chez moi, the two naughty ducklings Samson and Delilah have turned into little thugs. Every morning, I follow my bird routine, wild birds first, then boy ducks in their pen, followed by the chickens and female ducks in their pen, and finally the geese.

All the pens are joined by a series of gates and, as soon as I open the gate to the middle pen, Samson and Delilah are there, pecking at my boots, hanging on to my gloves, jumping into the food bucket. They chase me about and they peck hard I can tell you. They hop over to the fence to follow me into the goose pen which starts them all off honking, everyone starts clucking and quacking – it’s like a mad house. Poor Brad Pitt, a newcomer and a rather handsome young cockerel is the only trespasser allowed in the goose pen. Gregory Peck Jr, the oldest cockerel, has taken a dislike to him and won’t let him eat so I have to feed him on his own with the unfriendly geese. Brad is in love with Barbie the blonde chicken, but Gregory Peck is jealous, so poor Brad is unplucky in the girlfriend stakes. Does this sound like an episode of Soap? I think it might do (that’s going back a bit isn’t it?!) … Never a dull moment with animals I have to say.

Wherever you are, whatever you have planned, I wish you a very bon weekend,

Bisous from France,
Janine
