Everything You Want to Know About France and More...

Free magazine – newsletter from France

Front cover of The Good Life France Magazine features Paris in the spring

Bonjour

I hope that you and yours are well.

I’m just back from a visit to the UK to see my family and to attend dozens of meetings with French tourist agencies who went to London to share all their news with the UK press. It was a huge, and wonderful surprise to discover that though we have all been suffering from two years of lockdowns, behind the scenes everyone has been beavering away, renovating, updating, bringing ideas to fruition. I have so many fabulous stories to share with you and news of many, many events and openings.

And that renovation and working away in the background includes me! I’ve been working on a new magazine to bring France to you. And I am thrilled to share it with you today – the link is below. I hope you like it. No, I hope you love it! It’s quite different from the one I usually send you. First, it’s on a new platform to make it easier to read and quicker to access (click the little square at the base to make it super easy to read on a mobile device). And we have a new designer who has truly made every page beautiful. But what hasn’t changed is the great content and the wonderful photos. I’d love to know what you think. And there will be more exciting news about the magazine soon! Click here to read it: The Good Life France Magazine Spring 2022

Meanwhile, when Bread Man brought me my weekly treat alongside my baguette (brioche, I simply cannot resist it – here it is on Instagram), he reminded me that on the last Sunday in March, in France the clocks go forward. Did you know that the concept of Daylight Savings Time was actually first proposed by Benjamin Franklin to economise on candle use when he was in Paris in 1784?!

‘Ow is it’ said Breadman, ‘they don’t move the time forward at 4 o’clock Friday afternoon?’ He arched his eyebrows, narrowed one eye and added ‘Or ‘ow about on Monday morning at 9 o’clock!’

Sometimes I think Bread Man might be the wisest baker in France.

Enjoy the magazine and bon weekend mes amies and amis,

Janine
