Everything You Want to Know About France and More...

French flavour films are the darlings du jour

French silent film “The Artist” received heaps of praise across the Atlantic. “Hugo”, Martin Scorsese’s film about an orphan living at alone at a Paris railway station received 11 Oscar nominations.  Despite indulging in a little name calling now and then French and Americans have one big thing in common – a love of stylish films. “The Artist” received 10 Oscar Nominations and it’s fair to say Woody Allen received his 21st Oscar nomination for “Midnight in Paris” and “War Horse” directed by Steven Spielberg and set largely in France during the First World War continues the French theme.

Many French film purists might say the Oscars don’t quite have the gravitas of the Palme d’Ors at Cannes but French themed films are certainly popular in the USA.
