Édith Piaf, the Parisian singing icon whose life was portrayed in the film La Vie en Rose (2007) is to be honoured by the French postal services La Poste and the US Postal Service in a joint collaboration with a series of musically-themed stamps.
Born Edith Gassion in poverty in Paris, she changed her name to Piaf which means sparrow in French slang and became a legend.
