Motorists do not have to carry breathalyser kit in France

News from France on an additional driving rule requirement was that from 1 July 2012 all drivers visiting France will need to carry a breathalyser kit in their cars including foreign holiday makers.

The French Government announced that failure to have the kit in the car would result in a fine and give police the right to breathalyse the driver without further reason or requirement.

However, as at January 2013 there seems to have been a Government U Turn. The rules have not been enforced.

For now at least, you do not have to search for the elusive breathalyser kit to carry in your car when driving in France.
