Christmas may be a way off yet but we know many of you like to plan ahead and you’ll find heaps of useful information in our Christmas markets category including one of our favourite festivals – The Licques (near Calais) Festival of the Turkey – voted as one of the top 100 best loved fetes in France. Also the Lille Christmas market – 4000 shops in a town that knows how to celebrate in style! We’ll be adding more and more information to this section in the coming weeks.
If you can’t wait until Christmas for a festive occasion – check out Hareng Roi Fete in Etaples. An engaging and authentic celebration of the herring at this lovely fishing port on the outskirts of Le Touquet – 10-11 November.
In the News – the fabulous Galeries Lafayette in Paris celebrates a milestone birthday – 100 years under that gorgeous glass dome; a pair of Marie Antoinette’s silk slippers reach record price at auction.
In our readers France Experience section we featured Steve Sykes a retired policeman with a passion for cycling and whose exploits riding his bike in the snow in the Midi-Pyrénées town where he lives have endeared him to the locals.
