In May, don’t miss the Sancerre Wine Fair: all the wines of Sancerre are brought together in one place for delicious tastings. It’s a unique occasion to discover the latest vintages and taste wines from different vineyards within the same official wine district.
More than 400 wines are available to taste in the wine cellars of Caves de la Mignonne during the Sancerre Wine Fair. The 14th century caves can comfortably seat 1000 people and are a major tourist attraction in the area.
At the Sancerre Foire de Vins (Wine Fair) each village has its own stall and the winemakers take it in turns to offer tastings of the wines of Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Menetou-Salon, Quincy, Reuilly, Coteaux-du-Giennois and Châteaumeillant. It’s a fair where you’re encouraged to take your time to enjoy the fine food, local cheeses such as the famous crottin de Chvignol plus arts and crafts stalls.
Revel in these two days, and taste and understand the mysterious alchemy of these wine districts.
