Stolen French painting returned by US officials

A Camille Pissarro painting which was stolen more than 30 years ago from a museum in Aix-les-Bains was handed over to the French Ambassador in Washington in 2012.

The unfortunate “owner” of the painting “Le Marche aux Poissons” (The Fish Market) in the US said that she had no idea it was a stolen painting and only knew that it had been deposited at a Texan art gallery for sale by a man referred to as “Frenchie”.
