Everything You Want to Know About France and More...

Bon weekend from a magical chicken coop in France!

It’s roses season in France – Gerberoy in Picardy is brimming with blossoms!

Bonjour,

I hope that you and yours are well.

My big news this week is that The Good Life France Magazine summer issue is ready to read! It’s absolutely free as always and it’s absolutely packed with fabulous features and photos. In this issue we have Angers, the Roman Pont du Gard – a magnificent bridge to the past – Le Cannet a lovely town near Cannes, Bergerac, Marseillan where Noilly Prat is produced, Paris, oh so pretty Saint Paul-de-Vence, Etretat in Normandy, gorgeous gardens of the Loire Valley, culture features galore – from how the French fell in love with the humble potato (reluctantly!), and how the Bourbon Kings used to dine – nothing humble about that! Plus Vienne, Orleans in the Loire, Brittany, seaside villages, no-drive holidays, guides, recipes and much, much more! I hope you enjoy this issue and please feel free to share it with your friends – that’s free too!

In my last newsletter I told you how my chickens Joan Collins and Meryl Streep are sitting on eggs that can’t hatch as there is no cockerel in the pen, so I was thinking about getting a rooster to make them happy. Well, the strangest thing happened. Once morning last week, I went down to the pen to feed the girls – there’s a high fence all the way round so they can’t get out – and to my utter amazement a large and very handsome cockerel was strutting his stuff followed by a flock of cooing hens. I have no idea how he got in there but he seems quite happy and the girls all seem very calm and accepting, so I guess I’ll let him stay.

Since I thought about getting a cockerel and one seems to have manifested itself, I have spent several minutes thinking about winning the lottery and might even buy a ticket!

Next week I’ll be Lyon and in the Drôme department in the south of France, wandering in fields of lavender, discovering the local cuisine and wines, popping in and out of castles and palaces, and visiting some of the most beautiful villages in France. You can come with me via Instagram, as I’ll share photos and videos as I go – if only I could share the scent of the lavender with you…

Bisous from the south of France,

Janine
