“Fest’in Haybes” is the event not to miss in the Ardennes over the weekend of 26 and 27 July 2014.
This is a great area for sports and leisure activities; there are easy cycling routes along the river, canoeing, kayaking, boat trips, rambling, camping and a great forest adventure park, TerrAltitude, at Fumay. It has the longest zipwire in Europe over a kilometre long, 110m up in the air – a real adrenalin-buzz ride with an average speed of 130kph across the river Meuse!
Fest’in Haybes will see music concerts with rock, pop and reggae bands kick it all off on the Saturday followed by a fantastic fireworks show and then the Mayor of Haybes introducing a big hoedown with a Charleston Jazz atmosphere for dancing the night away under the stars.
The next day it’s more fun in the sun with a regional market setting up on the banks of the river Meuse, a giant picnic and a Rabelasian lunch (named after the great French writer Rabelais who wrote about giants and their appetites amongst much else!) for just 11 Euros per person. (book in advance via the website below).
