The best rooftop hot spot bars and restaurants in Paris

Over the last few years rooftop venues have been popping up all over the capital. They make for a brilliant place to enjoy the great outdoors with views that seriously impress. We think these are some of the best rooftop hot spots in Paris:

Bar with a view at the Eiffel Tower

At the top of the Eiffel Tower, the Champagne Bar serves Champagne while you take in the incredible views of Paris, seen from a height of 276m. It’s not really a bar as such, more like a kiosk with a seating area – but who cares, the views are what you’re there for and they don’t disappoint. Take the lift straight up to the bar on the top floor and avoid the queues for tickets. Best time to go is at night when Madame Eiffel puts on her hourly twinkle show, the lights sparkle for 5 minutes on the hour from dusk to 1 a.m. (2 a.m. in Summer).

Top of the tower

Head by lift to the 56th floor of the landmark Tour Maine Montparnasse for a birds eye view over Paris at the Ciel de Paris Bar. Champagne and cocktails await in an elegant setting. Address: Tour Maine Montparnasse, 33, avenue du Maine, 75015 Paris; Metro: Montparnasse-Bienvenüe

Perch at Le Perchoir

Much loved by Parisians, Le Perchoir bar on the roof of BHV Marais offers fabulous views over the capital’s iconic monuments. It’s open on Sundays too which makes it doubly good. Address: 37 rue de la Verrerie, 75004 Paris; Metro: Hote de Ville.

Equally popular is Le Perchoir bar in the Ménilmontant district in the 11th Arr. With 360 degree 7th floor views over the city – it’s a 7th Heaven hotspot. Address: 14 rue du Crespin du Gast, Paris 75011; Metro: Ménilmontant, Rue Saint Maur.

Sip on the Seine

The Georges restaurant-bar at the top of the famous Georges Pompidou Center is unusual, unique and exciting. Floor to ceiling windows offer sensational views, the sort of place that memories are made of. You don’t have to pay to go in the museum to go here, just take the special elevator at the entrance. Address: Georges Pompidou Square, 75004 Paris; Metro: Rambuteau, Châtelet.

Music & Chill

Le Point Éphémère is very trendy and popular with the arty set. In the summer months the rooftop bar in its Canal Saint-Martin setting is enchanting and has a festive feel with comfy deck chairs. You can tell when the roof top bar is available from the flag hanging outside – red closed, green open! Music ranges from house to hip hop and techno. We recommend you book in advance for this one. Address: 200 Quai de Valmy 75010 Paris; Metro: Jaurés, Stalingrad.

High in the sky

For a feeling of the country in the city, Auteuil Brasserie’s rooftop cocktail bar is vibrant with pot plants and feels like a rather exotic tree house. It’s located in a former railway station on the abandoned railway track, Petite Ceinture. It’s open from April to September and there’s a monthly barbecue party. The menu is classic, Italian style and not expensive. It’s like a little bit of the countryside in the heart of the city and just fabulous. Address: 78 rue d’Auteuil 75016 Paris; Metro: Porte d’Auteuil.
